A Truth We Are Believing

1 John 2:1-2

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

One of the greatest wonders: Jesus appeased God’s wrath and advocates for his own.

A Way We Are Living

Sometimes we oversimplify pace of life. Yet, different circumstances or life stages require different paces of living.

Emergencies, significant events, critical care, deadlines, disability, and small children often demand a quicker pace of life.

Completion of a major project or season of life, illness, creativity, recovery, and enjoyment often require one to slow down.

Jesus's life was a balance between times of intensity when meeting other's needs and times of rest and communion with God.

Christ perfectly displays the art of adapt one’s pace of life in response to the demands of life. Don’t get stuck in always living slowly or always being in a hurry. There are times for both.

A Book We Are Reading

One of our favorite homeschool resources over the past three years has been The Good and The Beautiful History Series.

We make our own history schedule but use their lessons to plug when studying specific periods of history. We also supplement the material with biographies and stories to bring the period alive to our kids. The Good and The Beautiful History Series is a fantastic resource in our history toolbox.

An Idea We Are Pondering

Be a lover of learning but make sure your learning is always tested by God's Word. If it doesn't align with God's truths, ditch it.

An Item We are Recommending

One of my favorite rhythms over the years with Amy is our after-bedtime puzzle and audiobook time. After getting the kids into their spots for bed, we typically listen on audible while we do puzzles a couple nights out of the week.

We have listened to business books, fiction books, parenting books, theology books, sermons, podcast and many more. The biggest impact has been learning and growing together.

One thing that allowed us to do this is a puzzle mat we found online. We can pick it up each night and then lay back down when we get to it next. Awesome little invention.
