How Can We Summarize the Books of the Law Within the O.T.?
The Bible begins with the Law, the five narrative books written by Moses in which God establishes the old covenant. Here is one way we could summarize each off these books:
Genesis tells the story of how God created the world, sin ruined everything, and God plans to rescue his people through his promised King.
Exodus tells the story of God delivering Israel from slavery in Egypt and establishing his covenant with Israel at Mt. Sinai.
Leviticus recounts how God gave Israel a way to be holy, worship him, and joyfully live in his presence.
Numbers tells the story about Israel's rebellion in the wilderness, God’s judgment upon his people, and his sustaining mercy.
In Deuteronomy, Moses recalls the story of God's love, blessings, and curses, and calls Israel to covenant faithfulness before they enter the promised land.
