A Truth We Are Believing

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

We are in a war for the mind.

A Way We Are Living

Life can feel very complex and full. Something helpful for us over the years has been to create and refine a family mission statement to identify the purpose and ultimate aim for our lives and family.

This statement is something I return to often. We have gone through many different ways of articulating it through the years from a four-page document now down to a simple sentence.

We live to know and treasure Jesus Christ.

If you have never crafted such a mission statement, I encourage you to use the truth of Scripture and try writing one for your life.

A Book We Are Reading

We are always on the hunt for good kid’s books. One of our absolute favorites, which we often gift, is the illustrated edition of Little Pilgrim’s Progress. Joe Sutphin’s illustrations are masterful. Our children did not want us to put this book down! We highly recommend it.

An Idea We Are Pondering

Life without risk is a life without faith.

An Item We are Recommending

Amy and I have enjoyed spending extended time in the book of Hebrews and plan to continue doing so into the fall and winter.

One of our favorite sermon series on this biblical book has been Sinclair Fergusons’s 21-week series through the book of Hebrews. His sermons are centered on Christ, faithful to the text of Scripture, and encouraging to the heart.
