A Truth We Are Believing

Psalm 61:1-2

Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

True help can only come from a source stronger than you.

A Way We Are Living

Parenting children is hard work.

One way we are living is by constantly training our children to think like Christians in a culture that is very unchristian. But this takes practice of discernment and being firmly grounded in the truth.

As Hebrews 5:14 says, we want to train our kids by helping “their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”

A Book We Are Reading

Amy and our seven year old daughter, Mackenzie just started reading the final book of the Heartwood Hotel Series

They have loved the special moments of snuggling up and reading this series out loud this summer. We highly recommend it!

An Idea We Are Pondering

Truth is found in an authoritative source not collective opinion.

An Item We are Recommending

Last week we noted HSLDA. This week we want to highlight Heritage Defense.

We love the vision of Heritage Defense and subscribe to them as annual members. In a country that is more and more hostile to Christianity yet is also governed by a constitution, we have the blessing of being able to use the law to freely parent and train our children.

Heritage Defense is distinct from HSLDA in that they specifically provide representation and assistance for homeschooling families who are professing Christians on issues related to child protective services (CPS), matters related to medical decisions, child discipline, and other non-homeschooling issues.

We love their vision and highly recommend them to homeschooling families, especially those with special needs children.
