A Truth We Are Believing
Micah 7:18-19
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
Take comfort, God delights in showing steadfast love.
A Way We Are Living
We love going to the library, finding new books, discovering new illustrators, and being immersed in new stories. Yet the world is filled with books that are poorly written and have just plain unbiblical content.
In the word's of Carol Joy Seid, "A bad book is a thief!" Here are a few principles we use to select good books for our kids and ourselves:
Does it express truth?
Does it have quality content?
Does it teach?
Does it inspire?
Who is recommending it?
Be unapologetically selective with the books you read. Don’t waste your time and energy on less than excellent books!
A Book We Are Reading
We are always reading and learning. This is partly because we enjoy it and partly because our life demands it.
One of the ways we think about caregiving is how to do it well over the long haul. The needs of our child with special need aren’t going away. Therefore, how do we live now so that 20 to 30 years down the road we can still be his primary caregivers?
To this end, I have been reading Outlive. I don’t agree with everything Peter Attia writes but his four tactics of addressing exercise, nutrition, sleep, and emotional health align with other MD’s we have read who talk about long-term body and brain health.
An Idea We Are Pondering
Is your schedule serving you or are you serving your schedule?
An Item We are Recommending
Homeschooling our four kiddos has not come without careful consideration. We live in a world that is hostile to Christianity and a lifestyle that unashamedly accords with the Bible.
So one of the safeguards we invest every year is being a member of the Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). The HSLDA is a fantastic nonprofit that fights for families and the freedom to homeschool.
The peace of mind that we have legal help should we need it is makes the minimal cost an easy yes every year!
