Psalm 49:16–20

Be not afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases. For when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not go down after him. For though, while he lives, he counts himself blessed—and though you get praise when you do well for yourself—his soul will go to the generation of his fathers, who will never again see light. Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

Even though it’s the heart of summer, we are already thinking ahead to another year of homeschool in the Mulvihill house.

Homeschool means focusing on a lot of different avenues of learning and a wide variety of topics. Sometimes it’s helpful to keep the big picture in view.

Three of our biggest goals for homeschool include the aim to help our children be followers of Jesus, lovers of learning, and masters of words.

Much of life comes down to one’s proficiency at communicating. Whether you are a writer, speaker, or anyone with social media, communicating well makes you stick out.

One of the books that I am currently reading to sharpen my own craft of writing is How to Write Short by Roy Peter Clark. Writing short is a learned skill not just a born talent.

“In the digital age, short writing is king. We need more good short writing––the kind that makes us stop, read, and think––in an accelerating world. A time-starved culture bloated with information hungers for the lean, clean, simple, and direct” (pg. 4).
